Joyce and Claire

Great weekend with my cousin and aunt. We ate at RiRa and at the Wharf Tavern on Sunday. Thanks to Claire and Lisa T. for dinner. Aunt Helen is now in the Alzheimer wing, but today she was great. Sharp and as quick witted as I remember.

July 23, 2005

We had a great Saturday here at the estate with some people I work with stopping by. I hope everyone had as good a time as I did. Sorry to say some couldn't make it, but maybe next time.

Boston, July 16, 2005

Had a good time at the Stargate Convention in Boston, although the convention itself was pretty weak. It was just something I had to do. Michael Shanks and Tony Amendola were great....funny and personable. I got to trade "Blonde" jokes with Tony (Master Bra'tak himself). A piece of advice though. If you want to book an event at the Bayside Expo Center, don't! It's a pretty poor site...whether it was the Center or the Convention which set up the logistics of the event, I don't know, but it was not good. I stayed overnight at the DoubleTree next door and I wasn't thrilled with it. Saturday night I jumped on a Harbor Cruise, and that was fantastic....especially when we got to witness sunset at Old Ironsides. Lowering of the flag and firing off the cannon. It was pretty cool! Sunday morning I went out in search of brunch. From BU to Quincy Market, no place open before at least nine. I finally found a nice place on Newbury St and had a great egg and three cheese sandwich. And I walked a lot!

Horror in London, Knee Jerks at home

Woke up today to news of the horrible bombings in London. Realizing that it can happen anywhere, it still gets me crazy that we only do things here in a knee-jerk reactionary way. All of a sudden, politicians get on the airwaves to announce they're beefing up security on mass transportation. Like the chance of bombing subways and buses never occured to the idiots before. The Station nightclub fire...all of a sudden, hey, let's check smoke detectors and install sprinklers.
Next time you run into a politician, remind them that they work for you...ask them to get you a glass of water.

It's been busy

Well, the Fourth of July weekend is behind us. Big bon fire and fireworks down on the farm on Sunday. It was fun, but why do we burn things to celebrate?
Paw Sox last night thanks to WOON. I helped with parade coverage on the Fourth up in Cumberland, and Dave was good enough to toss a few tix my way. It's always such a good evening at McCoy.
My new piece of tech comes today.
